The Munich alternative band Digital Carbs manages to combine sophisticated rock music with great emotions while still remaining accessible. Whereas the debut album was essentially the solo project of bassist and singer Johannes Rest, the upcoming EP “Conform Deform” showcases the unique chemistry that the individual members have developed with each other. Disorienting grooves, dreamy guitars, intimate vocal performances and huge energy shifts still characterize the band's sound. But both the arrangements and performances seem more lively. With a clearer lyrical focus, the songs deal with socially critical topics. Not by pointing fingers, but through selfreflection on personal problems that are rooted in today's society. The music of Digital Carbs takes you on a journey and you never know where it will take you.
